It's awful. Some people consider it bullying. When it happens in schools and to children, it's simply unacceptable. When it happens to local gay businesses, it's equally unacceptable.
On Sunday night, someone painted the word "FAG" on the window of the storefront of Cockpit Minneapolis.
Read the whole story, and see the picture from TheColu.mn here. Is this bullying? Sort of. I say sort of because I don't feel that Scott or any of the other patrons there really feel very bullied. Is it bashing? Absolutely. It's hateful, shameful, and unfortunate.
So what do you do when grown ups get bashed? Well, there are two options. First, you can pick a fight, cry bloody murder, go to the police, feel sad, feel hurt, hate yourself, get scared, get worried, fear for your safety, go to the press, launch a campaign, fight the hate, have a candlelight vigil, and crucify the person who did it.
Or, you can OWN IT.
Cockpit has been working hard to get a line of latex on the shelves, and I can't wait until it arrives and they start selling. Please take advantage of the wonderful sale they're offering - come out and get your picture taken with the "FAG" word and get 15% off your purchase! See more details about the photos on their Facebook Page.
Four weeks to MIR. Getting nervous, but still oh so excited.
